1. JRNLclub promotes access to a researcher's work within and beyond their field of interest
JRNLclub presentations condense high impact publications into an easier to understand and more dynamic video format which ensures that a researcher's work can be accessed by a wider audience. Many clinicians or researchers may not have time to spend hours reading papers from beyond their direct field. JRNLclub overcomes this barrier as the paper presentations at JRNLclub allow the paper's authors to distill the most important aspects of the research in their own words.
2. JRNLclub generates an educational library built on a repository of engaging research publication presentations
The video library hosted by JRNLclub is a valuable educational resource for scientists and clinicians at all career levels. The research presentations not only serve to educate audiences on the areas of research in high impact publications but also serve as a platform for learning about presentation skills and styles along with effective communication strategies. The presentations at JRNLclub break down complex research ideas and techniques and make subspecialty specific knowledge easier to understand for all audiences.
3. JRNLclub provides a platform for researchers to enhance and showcase their presentation skills
JRNLclub provides a platform for researchers to enhance and showcase their presentation skills in an environment that does not require costly attendance at annual field meetings or exclusive, invitation only speaking engagements. Many intra-institution seminars or presentations are not filmed and thus remain inaccessible to audiences not in direct physical attendance. JRNLclub bypasses this barrier and makes disseminating research easier than ever by recording and preserving presentations on an open access platform. Having an accessible representation of one's presentation can also be a valuable asset during the application process as many employers in academia and industry value highly value public speaking skills.
